Off topic: I have a movie suggestion for you both. It involves music and teaching. I believe it’ll touch you and you’ll love it. The movie is: Mr. Holland’s Opus It’s such a beautiful movie for music lovers. It frames the power of music in people's lives and the power of skilled teachers to influence students’ & a community the appreciation of music.

The brilliant thing about the 45 minutes is if you clock it from the point that Wadsworth says it to the point that the Chief/Evangelist first appears, it HAS been 45 minutes.

The first movie you watched was 1 of 5 movies. Although the plots were good to ok, the execution suffered because although they made profits, 20th Century Fox who made the movies continually cut the budgets to the movie. For example, in the original, all the apes wer individually made up, where as towards the last few movies, only the main cast were, and the rest simply wore masks. Interestingly, it was noted in production that in make up, while in meal breaks, chips sat with chimps, orangutans sat with orangutans and gorillas sat with gorillas! This next set of movies were probably better made and had more intense story lines, but the others in the original set ( I won't say series, because there was actually a tv series as well!!) were to my mind sci-fi classics.

I have been waiting for this one. Carrie White is one of my favorite Stephen King characters. And I absolutely adore Sissy Spacek. She is such a phenomenal actor. You MUST watch Coal Miner’s Daughter. It is my all-time favorite biopic. Sissy as Loretta Lynn, and Tommy Lee Jones as her husband, Doolittle Lynn. Both are fantastic. And yes, Sissy does all of her own singing. Oh, and for your next King adaptation, I recommend Pet Sematary 🐱

the Buckshot Roberts scene.. Roberts almost killed all of them singlehanded in real life. He chased them away and a day or two after the altercation.. There were a few gangs around at this time. Another was the Jesse Evans gang.. Jesse and Billy were friends at one point but eventually Billy actually claimed to be afraid of Evans. Evans was eventually captured for his crimes and served a very few years in prison. After his release he disappeared and was never seen again

To be perfectly clear about this movie and the culture of America at the time of its release, it was considered by most people, at least here in North Texas, to be the most unnecessarily gratuitously violent movie ever from a major studio. I have long believed that it did a great deal toward desensitizing humanity and making violence for the sake of shock as "entertainment" acceptable in what had been the world's most kind and charitable nation. It faced strong opposition. In one case, a young couple I knew went out for a movie. She had told him she wanted to see "A Fish Called Wanda", but when they got to the theater, several of his friends were waiting to see "Young Guns" with him. She took his car keys, gave him back her engagement ring, and told him to get a ride home with his friends. And no, they did not get back together.

I love that these are making the rounds. You two are in for a treat. It took me forever to even to watch the sequels. But everyone of these films exceeded any expectations I had. Also be ready to be hit harder in the feels because well, you'll see. By the end these named apes went down as some of my favorite characters in cinema. Really happy I got to get to know them.
